Not a fan of country however a huge funk fan. Loved both seasons! I still love those shinny round discs and will buy these both when available.

Not based on a true story but could of been closer to the truth
4 February 2019
One of the coolest stand offs in western history, between the town folks and the outlaws they hired to keep out other outlaws. Their hired hands that they used for their dirt are no longer needed now they want to go 'legit'. Roll the bottle on the bar, when it drops, we draw! Before it can Burl Ives and his men bust in. They are raw, hungry and and extremely un-PC. Their leader is dying, if he does, the dogs he hired to protect him will, rob and pillage and....Tina Louise, playing against the Gilligan Isle type, most know her from. Ives, far from the nice snowman most know him from. Robert Ryan being the badA$%& we know he can be. I love this movie. And fantastic character actors, I might not remember their names off the top of my head but their contribution will not leave my hollow head for quiet some time. Enjoyable, on surface also, one could draw some parallels between this fictional story and the story on how most towns/businesses go "legit" usually started on illicit means. Story of 'Merica ? Maybe. This movie is probably overlooked in the DVD bargain bin at your local big lot box store. Well worth the 2 for 5, even if your second selection bites, this one will be well worth it.

The Wake Up Trilogy
30 January 2016
I like to call this the third in The Wake Up Trilogy. School Daze

Do The Right Thing Chi-Raq

Like many great film makers before in tragic times as a response to a social and political movement, the Wajda War Trilogy comes to mind. Lee this time with the distinguished professor Kevin Willmott not only touch on issues that need to be address but, push the limits of cinema. if you look at this the context of cinema, despite your politics, Spike Lee is on point with the likes of Fellini as well as a almost Bollywood approach with some tongue in cheek comedy/commentary and the obvious Greek Tragedy. My problems with the film are minor compared to the bold direction and writing. In the day age of the franchise, you have to at least appreciate the diversity of this piece about not getting a piece. Standing out a amongst the capes being the hero, disguised as the villain. Bravo Spike and Kevin Amerikas most dangerous film makers. On the path and taking the oath...you ever notice those look the same in print Your Pal MuddFlapp aka Amerikas favorite honkey.

River (2015)

Pure Cinema even if it is a "tv" show
24 November 2015
The new wave of cinema seems to be TV and Netflix is the new HBO, for better and worse. River, is everything True Detective should of been but didn't have the strength to achieve. River is Netflix equivalent of the Wire. I would not be surprised if it isn't received just as the Wire did when it was in its original show run.

River has a cast that is primarily over the age of 40, not supermodel attractive (but very appealing), and a story that does not hold your hand. I am a guy. A guys guy. A flaming heterosexual, not there is anything wrong with anything, but...I cried like a baby at the last ten mins of this show. For the story, the acting, the music, and underneath that is really in your face, one of the most touching, beautiful and heartbreaking love stories I have ever witnessed in a piece of art disguised as a TV show, and I generally do not like love stories...I almost do not want a second season, I want to back in the new new wave of cinema, live reel to reel in the real world of River.

Tarantino at war with Cinema.
10 September 2009
Here is my over inflated review in 6000 words of less

Inglouris Basterds Is like Godard's Dirty Dozen directed by DePalma and produced by the Zucker Brothers.

Inglouris Basterds is Tarantino going to war with Cinema.

It's all the films you love and hate in one.

Tarantino is like the kid on the block with all the new toys. Balk and he will take them all and go home. He changes the rules whenever he feels like it and films his "homage" with a child like "Look at me! Look how Clever I am" attitude. The film was.....fun, a definite comedy.Tremendously initial. Will not be a day one purchase at the my house, if ever.

Tarantino is either scathingly brilliant as he does sporadic Sam Jackson narration after identical lines by "actors" that have just been said or he really thinks we are that F*#$(@! stupid.

Pure fun not for purists

S.W.A.T. (2003)

Your either SWAT or your not. I'm not, very NOT
22 January 2004
S.W.A.T. is what is wrong with American Movies today. Pitch it to a demographic and make up the story as you go along. Because the only scripts that new-Hollywood uses are at the pharmacy. I did not care for any of the characters in fact by the time the third act came I hoped they would all be shot, ran over or they would stop the film and the studio heads passed out some of those good drugs they took to green light this flick. The only positive thing I can say about SWAT is that is was the best nap I've had in a long time.
