Left alone for the night in their new orchard farmhouse, three teenage sisters soon find themselves at the mercy of some unscrupulous townie boys. The tables are turned however, when the malevolence that roams the orchard starts to hunt down the boys.
“Turning the tables” is the defining trope of exploitation cinema. The early 1970s was a time when exploitation cinema was in its prime. Wes Craven made The Last House on the Left and Sam Peckinpah made Straw Dogs but there were many other “rape and revenge” films at the time. The same debates about subtext can be had today with violent horror films. Was The Last House on the Left really about the Vietnam War?...

Originality is something I always scream out for, especially when it comes to horror movies. I’m not someone that constantly complains about remakes or sequels but I love to see things I have never seen before, twists on ideas that are well known and Hunter’s Moon at least aims to do this.
It all seems very clichéd at first but I’m sure that’s the idea. We see a family – Mother, father, three daughters – moving from the city into a new house in a small town. Once settled the parents go out for the night, leaving their teenage daughter’s home alone, only for three locals to have invited themselves into the property. From there though,...

"War means business." Cj Entertainment has debuted a new Us teaser to go along with the full Korean trailer for Take Point, a military action thriller from Korean filmmaker Kim Byung-woo. The original title for this film was simply Pmc, meaning Private Military Company, a reference to the group of elite mercenaries hired for a secret CIA mission to abduct North Korea's Armed Forces Minister in an underground bunker below the Korean Demilitarized Zone. The film is actually set in the future, on the day of the Us presidential election in 2024, and is about the fear of starting World War III. Ha Jung-woo (from The Chaser) stars, with Kevin Durand, Jennifer Ehle, Spencer Daniels, Lee Sun-kyun, Robert Curtis Brown, and Malik Yoba. That robot sentry in this looks brutal! Lock & load. Here's the international trailer / Us teaser (+ posters) for Kim Byung-woo's Take Point, from YouTube: On the day of the U.

The episode, "Sonograms and Tube Tops," dealt mostly with Christy (Anna Faris) planning a baby shower for her daughter, Violet (Sadie Calvano), as she fears Violet isn't as excited about becoming a mom as she should be. Turns out there's a good reason for that: Violet has decided to give the baby up for adoption.
"Violet's getting really close to ... the end of her pregnancy, and she makes an extremely brave choice to give the baby up for adoption and breaks the cycle that has been with her family of having a baby young," Calvano tells Zap2it.
The sun and surf of California has long provided a cinematic backdrop to drugs, sex and hedonistic excess; behind the beautiful coastline of the Golden State often lies darker secrets. It's in that spirit that "California Scheming" unfolds, and today we have the exclusive red band trailer for the upcoming film. The directorial debut of writer/director Marco Weber (producer behind "Igby Goes Down," "Brooklyn's Finest" and "The Informers" among others), the film is led by 2011 Miss Golden Globe Gia Mantegna who plays Chloe, a beautiful new girl who has just arrived in Malibu. Soon, best friends Nick and Jason are drawn into her orbit, as well as Hillary, another arrival from Boston looking for friends and a place to fit in. But Chloe is more than just a beautiful face, and introducing everyone to drugs, crime and more, they all go down a dangerous path. Co-starring Chad Lowe, Devon Werkheiser,...

The American Film Market tends to be a gauge for what is coming to North America in the form of horror, thrillers and other genres. This year's event is previewing dozens of films in both the horror and thriller genres. One of the standouts in the thriller genre is Marco Weber's (Unthinkable) California Scheming. This feature focuses on Chloe (Gia Mantegna) and her ability to draw several California locals into the darker side of life. California Scheming stars Devon Werkheiser (The Wicked), Spencer Daniels and Gia Mantegna. The film was shot and developed by veteran filmmaker Marco Weber. The film's story is an intriguing one. Chloe is new in Malibu and she draws in the local boys with her looks and mystique. But, Chloe has a darker side. Chloe's life involves theft, drugs and other misbehaviours. Will she bring down just herself or everyone along with her? California Scheming...

Chuck Lorre has co-created another sitcom for CBS -- Mom. Will it be a ratings smash like The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men or, will it be a dud and be cancelled instead? Is there room for yet another Lorre sitcom? Stay tuned!
On Mom, a single mom in recovery (Anna Faris) returns to live with her single mother, who's also in recovery (Allison Janney). The cast of the show includes Sadie Calvano, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Spencer Daniels, Matt Jones, Nick Corddry, and French Stewart.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day, around 11:30am Est/8:30am Pst. Refresh to see the latest.

Tonight, CBS unveils Mom, the latest series that Chuck Lorre has co-created for the network. Will it be as successful as some of the others? Is it worth watching?
On Mom, Christy (Anna Faris) is a single mother, waitress, and recovering alcoholic. She and her children return home to live with Christy's mother (Allison Janney), a recovering addict herself who's all too willing to help her daughter see her flaws. Others in the cast are Sadie Calvano, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Spencer Daniels, Matt Jones, Nick Corddry, and French Stewart.
Does the show sound like a winner? Here's what some critics have to say:
La Times: "I would think Mom has little chance of becoming as popular as [Two and a Half ] Men, though for reasons that are mostly to its credit. It's the less obvious, more serious show — within the...

Chicago – CBS must have a whole wing of their headquarters dedicated to Chuck Lorre. Why not? He paid for it. He has been such a key part of their success over the last decade that it’s hard to think of any network-creator relationship that’s been more financially notable. “Two and a Half Men,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Mike & Molly” — all winners of acting Emmys and at least the first two stand among the most popular comedies of their era. Can he do it again with “Mom,” premiering tonight, September 23, 2013? Don’t bet against him.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0
Like so many shows this year, “Mom” was clearly designed around its stars. How can we get Anna Faris the comedy vehicle she should have been on years ago and how can we get Allison Janney back to TV? In an era of high-concept, welcome to the old-fashioned “Mom,” a show for...

Image Entertainment always gives independent filmmakers an outlet to get their projects out to the masses. Many of these movies fall into the extremely competitive genre of horror and suffer from collapsing into the realm of cliché. Last Kind Words is one of the rare exceptions to this unfortunate trend.
17-year-old Eli (Spencer Daniels) and his family move to the Kentucky backwoods after the father (Clay Wilcox) loses his job. He decides to work on the secluded farm of a childhood friend and recluse (Brad Dourif). Upon exploring the woods near his new home, he meets a girl named Amanda (Alexia Fast) and feels an instant connection to her. His journeys also expose him to a dark secret the dead want restitution for from beyond the grave.
It's always a treat when you put in a movie expecting nothing more than a one-dimensional horror yarn but you get so much more.

CBS has released promotional videos for six of its eight new series premiering next season. The network opted to post behind-the-scenes videos rather than traditional trailers. Included is The Millers with Will Arnett, Mom with Anna Faris, The Crazy Ones with Robin Williams and Hostages with Toni Collette. Cam Gigandet’s legal drama Reckless and the ensemble comedy Friends with Better Live are not included. Watch the clips below. Enjoy!
Hostages
This heavily serialized thriller is set for a limited run of 15 episodes. Starring Toni Collette, Dylan McDermott and Tate Donovan, Hostages has been compared in spirit to an extended arc from Person of Interest. Like Showtime’s Homeland, the new series is based on an Israeli series by Alon Aranya, Omri Givon and Rotem Shamir. The show’s plot centers on a family wrapped up in a mass political conspiracy that is poised to change their lives forever.

For a newly sober single mom, it's probably not a great idea for your estranged, recovering alcoholic mother to find her way back into your life. Nor is it a solid plan to live in wine country, working at a Napa Valley restaurant. But that's exactly what Anna Faris' character Christy is facing in the new CBS comedy "Mom."
The new series, Faris' first regular TV gig, brings prolific producer Chuck Lorre's tally to four on the network's docket for 2013-14. ("The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" also return this fall, with "Mike & Molly" held for midseason.) Centered around Faris' Christy, the show follows the exploits of the single mom who's been sober for four months. Working as a waitress, her newfound sobriety is tested when Bonnie (played by the estimable Allison Janney), her estranged mom reenters her life to over-complicate Christy's already crowded life.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
The king of the networks easily remains in charge despite "Elementary" being their only fresh hit of last season's new shows. The network's line-up remains fairly stable with only a few key moves such as Thursday being expanded to include two hours of comedy programming, and "Hawaii Five-0" moving to Fridays.
Several other pilots didn't make the cut this week including the series sequel to the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies, a TV version of the comedy "Bad Teacher", the "NCIS" mobile spin-off "NCIS: Red," a procedural based on Leif G.W. Persson's literary homicide detective Everett Backstrom, the Frank Marshall-produced political thriller "The Ordained" about a priest turned lawyer trying to save his sister from assassination,...

Chicago – When you’re the #1 network on TV, it must be tempting to stay the course. However, CBS always shakes things up a bit and this year is no different. One of the first new series orders of the coming season is also one of the least surprising.
CBS is on the verge of picking up the Chuck Lorre-produced comedy "Mom" for 2013-14, Deadline reports. The show, which stars Anna Faris as a single mother working to get her life together, has been seen as pretty much a no-brainer pickup throughout pilot season.
Lorre co-wrote the pilot with "Two and a Half Men" scribes Gemma Baker and Eddie Gorodetsky. The pickup of "Mom" will give Lorre four shows on CBS next season as it joins "Men," "The Big Bang Theory" and "Mike & Molly."
"Mom" also stars Blake Garrett Rosenthal as Faris' son and Allison Janney as her mother, along with Nate Corddry, Sadie Calvano, Matt Jones, Spencer Daniels and French Stewart.
The only question now is where "Mom" will fit on the CBS schedule. Deadline says it's being considered for 8:30 p.
