- TriviaBenjamin Gregory, Kristy Swanson, and John Astin did not reprise their respective roles from the first film, Mr. Boogedy (1986). Benjamin Gregory, by this time, had been cast on the sci-fi sitcom, ALF, and, therefore, was not available. He was replaced by Joshua Rudoy. Kristy Swanson, was busy with other projects, and she was replaced by Tammy Lauren. John Astin, was also busy with other projects, and his character, Neil Witherspoon, was removed altogether, and was replaced by a similar character, Walter Witherspoon, Neil's apparent brother, (although it's never specified) portrayed by the late Leonard Frey.
- GoofsAfter Carlton is saved from Boogedy's spell, Elois puts the magic cloak on a coat hanger in the kitchen. About a minute later, it's missing because Mr. Lynch stole it, but since everyone was in the kitchen at the time, wouldn't someone of noticed Mr. Lynch breaking into the same room and snatch the magic cloak right in front of them?

Booger Off.
I did not particularly enjoy "Mr. Boogedy" when I watched that a couple of weeks ago, but I'm still running thought the list of the movies on Disney Plus in alphabetical order so here we are, with its sequel that is around twice as long (sigh). Incidentally I'm treating this as a movie in it's own right, as that's how it appears on Disney Plus.
Now established in the town of Lucifer Falls, the Davis family have put their encounter with William Hanover (Howard Witt) behind them. Carlton Davis (Richard Masur) has been asked to organise the town Carnival, which has put him at odds with Tom Lynch (Eugene Levy) the manager of the general store, who coveted the job. Both Davis's daughter Jennifer (Tammy Lauren) and sons Corwin (David Faustino) and R. E (Joshua Rudoy) come to believe that Mr. Boogedy is has returned, so the family organise a fake séance to confirm that he's gone, unfortunately this is not the case.
For me, the problem with this one is how (for what should be a fun family comedy horror) spectacularly boring the film is. I just could not stick with it for any length of time. It's padded quite a bit, which doesn't help - whole characters, like Eloise's brother, Elmer, played by Ray Girardin seem to exist solely for making the film longer. Elmer is involved in the films really tedious opening, as the whole family play a prank on him as he arrives. I'm afraid that I found the Davis family just as insufferable as I did in the first film. Kristy Swanson is not back for this sequel, and has been replaced by Tammy Lauren, it's still a fool's errand though to be the only normal person in a family of jerks.
Also gone, but a much bigger miss, is John Astin who has been replaced by Leonard Frey in what was his final role, although it's not exactly the same character. He didn't, for me, match up to Astin at all. Eugene Levy is in though, and makes the most of a thin character, but he's a fleeting spark fighting against waves of boredom.
I say again, this is the sort of IP that Disney should be taking another swing at, rather than live action remakes of the classics. The tone of horror comedy is a much easier needle to thread now and with better CGI and a better pace there could be something decent here.
