How to watch the 2012 BAFTA Awards live-streaming online? Well, if you're in the United Kingdom, you might want to check out BBC3 at 7:30 p.m. London time for the red carpet arrivals (featuring a Louis Vuitton-clad Miss Piggy), and BBC1 at 9:00 p.m. London time for the actual BAFTA ceremony at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. If you're elsewhere, things get more complicated. [Addendum: The BAFTA ceremony can be watched here right now. Watch BAFTA 2012 online live-streaming red carpet arrivals here, and later check out BAFTA 2012 winners.] There's also the BAFTA Awards online YouTube channel, though it's unclear whether they'll provide live coverage of the red carpet/awards ceremony or if clips will be posted there (however shortly) after the fact. Right now, all the BAFTA YouTube page says is the following: "The Orange British Academy Film Awards are on 12 February 2012. Watch our exclusive coverage right here, in the build up and on the night." Additionally, Stephen Fry provides some added tips on the video clip below (please scroll down). [Addendum: No live coverage at either site so far, as the red carpet arrivals have already begun.] Else,...

Early this morning the BAFTA nominations were announced, after a couple rounds of 'longlist' reveals. One of the big Oscar frontrunners, The Artist, walked away with 12 nominations, including Best Film, Director, Original Screenplay, Leading Actor and Leading Actress. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy gets a moment in the sun with 11 nominations -- not really any surprise that the film would get lots of BAFTA attention -- and Hugo took 9 nods, though mostly for smaller categories. Drive, which has mostly been ignored in the Us awards rounds so far, got a nod for Best Film, and Attack the Block and Submarine were both nominated for Outstanding Debut By a British Writer, Director or Producer. Check out the full nomination list below. The Orange British Academy Film Awards take place on Sunday 12 February at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. Official BAFTA Press Release:
Sunday February 12, 2012 at the Royal Opera House in London
Stephen Fry is returning to his former role as host of the Orange British Academy Film Awards next year. Fry first hosted the ceremony in 2001 and continued until 2006 when he handed the BAFTA baton to his successor Jonathan Ross.
Fry says, .I had a marvellous time presenting the Film Awards for the first six years of the century. Hard as it may be for some characteristically sceptical Britons to believe, the BAFTAs have real kudos, reputation and cachet all over the world of film-making and I, old as I am, never cease to be shamelessly glamorised by the sight of so many legendary names who come every year as nominees and presenters.

"The King's Speech" has swept the board at this year's Orange BAFTA Awards, winning seven prizes. Colin Firth was named Best Actor for his portrayal of stuttering British King George VI, while the Tom Hooper-directed drama also picked up Best Picture, Outstanding British Film, Best Supporting Actress for Helena Bonham Carter and Best Supporting Actor for Geoffrey Rush.
Accepting his award, Colin, who is highly tipped for success at the Oscars later this month for the role, praised the director, giving him his "eternal gratitude". He said, "Thank you. Thank you. I like coming here. Thank you BAFTA."
Consistent with the fact that almost every important turning point in my life has hinged on the banal and the arbitrary; such things as broken kitchen appliances and unsent emails, the day in which I had to have my first meeting with Tom Hooper, I had to postpone a routine but possibly somewhat uncomfortable medical examination.

Two things the British apparently love: stammering English monarchs and crazy-eyed New York ballerinas.
Tom Hooper's historical drama "The King's Speech," starring Colin Firth as speech-impeded King George VI, and Darren Aronofsky's "Black Swan," featuring a crazy-eyed Natalie Portman as a dancer on the verge of a "Swan Lake"-induced breakdown, topped the Orange British Academy Film Awards nominations, which the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced today. "The King's Speech" led the way with 14 nominations, "Black Swan" scored 12, "Inception" snagged nine, and "True Grit" and "127 Hours" nabbed eight apiece. Golden Globes Best Picture winner and Oscar front runner "The Social Network" earned a more modest six nominations.

Photo: Orange British Academy Film Awards Today the nominations for the 2010 Orange British Academy Film Awards were announced and Avatar, An Education and The Hurt Locker lead the way with eight nominations each followed closely by District 9 with seven and Inglourious Basterds and Up In the Air each pulling in six each. The only film not amongst the nomination leaders that was nominated for Best Film is Lionsgate's Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire, which did manage four nominations.
Looking over the nominations there are a few that stand out as breaking from the norm, such as Neill Blomkamp (District 9) and Lone Scherfig (An Education) both getting directorial nominations alongside James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow and Quentin Tarantino. Both District 9 and An Education have enjoyed plenty of love during the awards season, but this is a nice bonus that both Blomkamp and Scherfig should be proud of.
