Mr. Know It All seems to be somewhat ignorant about . . .
tadpole-596-91825613 December 2023
. . . why a Dacron mustache would cost $99 in a upscale facial hair store. Dacron, of course, is one of DuPont's trademarks for Pete, or polyethylene tear-a-palate, a controversial chemical discovered by a couple of dudes named Johnny and Jimmy in 1941. It should go without saying that Pete can be compounded with glass fibers and crystallization accelerators to make the thermoplastic resins required by our Modern plastic drinking bottles, many automobile components and most rigid packaging material. Were it not for Pete, Today's canoeing enthusiasts might find themselves up a literal creek without a paddle. Bullwinkle should realize that Pete will soon cover most of Earth's ocean surfaces, given its eternally indestructible qualities. Therefore, Pete is no joking matter.

Comparative animal psychology is a very . . .

. . . boring subject, much to the detriment of AESOP AND SON: THE HARES AND THE FROG. Throwing in a lion, bear, fox and skunk do little to spiff up the plot here. These characters' motivations remain murky, with their actions and reactions largely inexplicable. It all reminds me of this college dude who took a graduate course in comparative animal psychology his senior year. This class was such a snooze fest that he frequently slept through the alarm signalling the 8:30 AM session was starting in half an hour. However, the professor was too obtuse to understand that the bubbling of a roommate's aquarium kept lulling him back to sleep.

A Miner Character or a Rocky Subject
Hitchcoc25 February 2016
Bullwinkle learns of the death of his Uncle Dewlap and his inheritance of a mysterious mine. So he and Rocky head off for Mount Flatten. What do you know? There is a mysterious, skulking figure waiting for the boys. After a knife is thrown at him, and then when he is almost done in by a briefcase full of TNT, it is apparent that this mine must be important. They end the episode as they journey over a road with hundreds of land mines under it. So we know there is something really significant that others want.

The under card this time is an Aesop called "The Hare and the Frog" where a typically timid rabbit becomes the "Top Critter" in the jungle by having the ability to wiggle his ears. For no explainable reason, this seems to neutralize any threat from the most powerful creatures. Dudley Do Right's offering involves the abduction of his horse (actually, the only horse in the camp). Snidely dresses up as an attractive horse and lures the poor steed away from Dudley. Soon the morale of the entire camp is at ground zero. Dudley is beside himself and stumbles out to rescue the horse. It's pretty funny.

It's no wonder that the rest of the industrialized world . . .

, , , began pulling ahead of American school children on the crucial STEM subjects with the advent of this serial on The Bullwinkle Show during the autumn of 1960. Can you even find the title element--Up-See-Daisy-E. M.--on the periodic table? I don't think so. Sesame Street came along decades too late to stem the rising tide of U. S. ignorance. Now any bloated orange bozo can ride down a rainbow elevator and blather about America First while out-sourcing his Turnip Ties, Turnip Steaks, Turnip Water, Turnip Paper Towels, Turnip Wine and Turnip Bleach to China, Mexico, Russia, Panama, North Korea, Nicaragua, Iran, Honduras and Pakistan. It's all enough to make the Turnip Tower waterfall weep.
