No be there

Watching Daniel & Johhny teaching each other their styles was oddly entertaining and the hockey match was a brilliant touch. The subplot with the new kid was rather boring and uninspired but all in all a fun episode.

Great episode if you speed through the middle schoolers
Steve_Holt_2 January 2022
I loved everything about this episode except for the middle school drama. Did the show runners really think the best thing to do would be to improve on the high school nonsense by adding middle school nonsrnse?

The Daniel/Johnny stuff continues to be awesome and the training they did together was excellent.

I'll be speeding thru the kids stuff so I expect to continue enjoying the show. And as much as I love it, I can't go higher than an 8 with the new additions to this episode.

Trading places
Calicodreamin1 January 2022
Loved seeing Johnny and LaRusso trading places and getting into working together. It makes for a new dynamic for the show that really works. The new kid feels forced, the LaRusso boy has been MIA most of the show, why change now.

The best one liner in the series. After Laruso takes out the hockey team, Johnny comes back and delivers the most hilarious line.... I could not stop laughing. Ha!!!

Good Daniel & Johnny interplay
mycannonball13 January 2022
This episode is funnier than season 4's premiere. The interplay between Daniel and Johnny is quite amusing, and the introduction of a new, young character is good for the younger demographics as the older teens are getting, well, older. I'm glad that Daniel's son is a bully because it makes sense for his previous development. Sam was the favored child, yet Anthony was spoiled in the worst way - he got away with all kinds of bratty behavior and grew up with his face in a device. It will be interesting to see how where this goes and how Daniel reacts to having a less-than-perfect teen.

Tone the soap opera down ...
ASBKnight3 January 2022
I love this show. From the first season, Johnny's redemption arc hit like a sledgehammer. Must be the only show that is a continuation of an old show/movie and it's actually good on it's own.

The only issue I have is the teenage drama/soap opera. It dilutes the deeper story that is between Johnny and Danny.

I got the thing between their kids, but this season is a bit too much.

Apart from that, very good show.

First Learn Stand
TheRockson31 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Kenny won me over the moment he appeared, I really liked the plot that involves him.

In the jhonny and daniel plot, I thought it was weak at first where they talked and jhonny trained in the form of miyagi, but when it came to the training part of Eagle Fang Karate, it got much better. I loved Daniel's eagle-style training scenes.

In the weakest plot of the episode: Amanda and Tory, it was ok, but interesting, mainly in the conversation between amanda and kreese, I liked the scene.

I hope Larusso's son has a bow of redemption. (Was Anthony his name?)

4/5.

Finally back to Johnny and Daniel
betanslivka29 August 2022
This is the first episode of season 4 that I actually liked. I was ready to stop watching completely. I love Johnny and felt that they were losing the whole premise of the show, which was extending their rivalry. The interaction between them in this episode was great. It even had some laugh out loud moments. The rest of this one was mediocre. I'll hold off judgement o the new subplot with the new kid until I see how it develops. I have tried through the whole series to like Robbie, but I just can't warm up to him. And the writers still have not been able to garner any sympathy from me for Tory. To break in, wreck someone's home and try to kill her rival, because her boyfriend kissed her? I don't care how hard her life is; those are not the actions of a typical teenager with raging hormones. They're the actions of a psychopath.

EP 2
ahmxii5 January 2022
Now the story introduces some new characters with different storylines running around, which I liked.

In the Jhonny and daniel plot, the training part of Eagle Fang Karate, it just got me. I loved Daniel's eagle-style training scenes.

Well it drags a bit.
mm-3921 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First Learn Stand, well it drags a bit! The viewer learns about modern day bully and the effects. Daniel son has the root causes of bullies and lack of understanding for other. The viewer see how a sweet kid, with problems can change and why? A good side story but a bit too much. Well it drags a bit. 6 stars.

Last Jedi of Karate Kid....Subverted all expectations...AVOID
paulwaluky1 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Genuinely, genuinely disappointed... Was really looking forward to this season.....feels like a completely different series with completely different writers. Managed to get 4 episodes in and just gave up. Woke, really boring, lazy melodrama plotlines that just aren't interesting. The kid in the picture (u can guess) is attacked by a group of mainly white kids (headed by Daniel's son) what follows is a literal copy of the KK1 scene where Daniel gets beaten up after the prom...did JJ Abrhams write this? You can see the executive etc at Netflix have their fingerprints all over this.... What a shame..... It feels like the soul of the show was scraped out and replaced by a random scene generator based on what previously worked well....avoid...especially if you enjoyed the previous seasons.

That's just not it
leonien-1520831 December 2021
S4 is a letdown so far. Action and plot are inferior to the previous seasons and repeating the same story over and over stops working at a certain point.

Amazing
nickmaclaughlin20 February 2022
An extremely well written and acted episode. The best Daniel and Johnny banter in the whole series. The dialogue throughout the episode is extremely crisp. The Amanda, Tory, and Kreese storyline of this episode is done very well. And the brand new Kenny and Anthony storyline brings a fresh perspective to the show. This is Cobra Kai firing on all cylinders.

Love the show, but this episode reeks
N-B-Mobley6 January 2022
I love the show. But the writing of this episode seems to be a couple decades behind the times

Toward the end of the episode, we witness a confrontation between Daniel and the hockey team. Apparently the writers thought we needed a 4 minute scene devoted to gay and misogynistic slurs about Johnny being Daniel's "boyfriend" and "lover boy", a hockey player being a "pussy", and Daniel being "Sally". But hey, at least the writers recognized the hockey players crossed the line justifying violence when they called Daniel's wife a "smoking hot brunette who needed a test drive". Really??

Am I missing something? Yes, the hockey players were supposed to be seen as jerks. But I really expected the main characters to be evolved enough to be offended by homophobia & misogyny long before the apparent last straw of a comparatively benign comment about Daniel's "smoking hot brunette" wife.

"nerds" in 2021?
mail-shadow7 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So in 2021 it is still considered "nerdy" to play video games?

In what universe is this series playing?

That middle school plotline is yawning and has no place.
