10/10 for the trailer team, every else only gets the participation trophy
22 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I got to admit, I did get excited after watching the trailers, so whoever put them together, absolutely great job. Everyone else disappointed me and all fans of the original show.

Both Shyamalan and the writers for this newest adaptation have failed to realize what made ATLA special, i.e. The writing and atmosphere.

Writing as in story, character development arcs, the little bits and bobs that brought them togheter, the pacing, the dialogue, the contrast between Aang's innocence and his actual duty, so many other things that will make this review a small book... The jist of it is, the writers spun the story and events to appeal to modern audiences and I feel that either they're extremely smart and think the entire population of the earth is intellectually challenged or they are part of the 2nd category themselves.

Writers today heavily underestimate the viewers and their capabilities of following a story or they can't do it themselves and use exposition dumps just to make sure they never have to write something more complex, of which I remind you, they already had the material. They could've copy + paste the entire story and they would've been acclaimed as geniuses, but unfortunately, they did not... Extremely lazy writing and interpretation.

In the atmosphere department, I will fully admit they did justice to the visuals, everything looks stunning and perfectly translated from the animation. What they screw up though is, again, the child-like freedom of the story. And the worst offensive is the generic from the shelf background music, used in almost every single scene, because apparently they didn't trust the kid actors to do their job ( and they were right unfortunately ) and needed further emphasis on what the viewers are supposed to feel at any given moment.

Again, I can go into further detail, but this is already longer than it should've been. I wanted to keep it short, say how amazing it was and urge everyone to give it a go, but life is often disappointing.

I'm only going to lightly spoil the first episode, but keep in mind that there are reccuring issues.

They changed events that are iconic to the series. The "come closer... Wanna come penguin sledding with me ??" is gone. Gran gran became the exposition dump bender, far worse than in the series. Katara suddenly learns to waterbend way beyond what she w9as able to in basically 1 short scene. Furthermore, instead of the deck fight with Zuko where she freezes the soldiers ( the fight is again, iconic ) she is the one that stops Zuko's fireball aimed at them. Because she's not enough of a badass by the end of the series, she needs to be a girl boss right from the get go.

Why show of how powerful Aang is, which is something she constantly acknowledges over the series until she also gains incredible power by struggling enduring and constantly improving, when she can learn starting in the first 30 mins of the show ? Why let the male actor have the initial glory ?

Not to mention her motherly personality is a thing of the past...

Look... You can watch it, it's.... decent. For some people distracted by pretty lights it can also be a 10/10 since I fully admited it does look stunning.

But, if you are a fan of the original or you don't like being talked down to, you'll not enjoy it. You are STILL better off watching the "kids" show, and that's just sad in my opinion. They had ample time to not screw it up and the absolute perfect material, and yet, unfortunately, they did...

I tried, I really did. Too many things were changed and not in a good way. I truly believe the entertainment industry thinks of us as chickens, with similar attention spans. And I am so tired of it.

Good luck to the newer generations...

This is how you make and end a trilogy
10 July 2023
Its praises have been sung already.

This is how you end a trilogy, with nothing short than a big bang of a movie. The characters have grown, but still have their own little quirks. The bait villain was perfectly introduced and portrayed. The actual villain was not played as a misunderstood teenager with a god complex ( looking at you Kang ), the acting was top notch. Expertly crafted visuals combining practical and CGI seamlessly. And a bittersweet goodbye...

You can nitpick if you really try, but its faults are neglijabile compared to the spectacle you just witnessed.

One of the best Marvel movie that came out in recent years and a great trilogy overall. They sure know how to pull on the ol' heartstrings...

Black Adam (2022)
4/10
I like Dwayne, but not in this movie
25 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to like the movie since I do like Dwayne, he seems like a nice guy, but man, he can't really act, can he...

He's not completely at fault though, the writing department for this movie have done a terrible job, mostly at the same level of the guys who wrote for Iron Fist. The movie lacks structure, dialogue is subpar even for a DC movie, the actors don't even try to do a decent job at portraying their characters. The kid, Amon, especially, has no screen presence at all. I only remember him because 1. I just finished the movie and 2. That's how bad he was.

As a whole, the cast was weak. Pierce Brosnan is old school, he can indeed act, but the director gave him no material to work with, 50% of the time he spends on screen is him touching the Fate helmet, the rest is his CGI double.

Cinematography is non-existent if you ask me, I haven't seen so much CGI and jittery scenes since the Star Wars prequels and compared to this, those are actually good. A lot of cuts, a lot of CGI backgrounds, game cutscene levels of CGI characters. I do not understand why Black Adam and Sabacc weren't made in a more practical fashion, it would've been nice to see something real for once. I swear most of the movie was made in Unreal Engine 4.

And the music.... Wow... Watch the movie on mute and put any playlist you want in the background, you will not miss a thing. Not one piece of sound is designed to fit the scene it plays over and enhance it, ground it in any way. It's just generic crap put togheter by a 9 year old edge lord who thinks Kanye's "Power" ( I'm not calling him Ye, it's stupid ) simply works with anything. If you played Saints Row, I'm sure you remember the plane fight when this song comes on, how incredibly fitting it was and how it hyped you up. Well, in this movie, it's just there because Black Adam is destroying some CGI enemies.

Nothing in this movie is coherent, engaging or entertaining. And they had Dwayne The Rock Johnson in it, a guy who oozes charisma, yet they made sure he never gets to use it. DC seriously needs better writers and directors if they want their superheroes movies to matter, because apart from Wonder Woman and Shazam, they kinda shot their shot and missed.

Something actually good on Netflix
1 November 2022
Oh wow, didn't expect this to come out of Netflix, considering the amount of bullcrap they've been churning lately and the (future) butchering of some other good shows, but ok.

No need for developing a high praising detailed review, you should watch it and form your own opinion.

Characters are well written and fleshed out, the world building is effortless and easy to follow, the writing is decent, some varying in quality visuals. It is predictable, don't expect some masterpiece, but it is more than watchable and I really hope they get more seasons to play around with.

It's maybe a 7/8, but 9 stars to make sure it gets the recognition it deserves.

If any Netflix employee reads this, mate, it's a good show, keep it on, you aren't giving us much better options.

One of the weakest Marvel movies
28 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Well, not really, but kinda.

What's good:

-visuals, great CGI -cast, old and new, great performances

What's bad:

-everything else.

Storywise, it's not great. Yes, the Darkhold has power over Wanda and turns her into Scarlet Witch, but come on, why would a book make her cry over some made up kids she conjured herself ? And furthermore, how are those kids real in other universes if they were a figment of imagination and witch power ?

At any rate, the motivation of the "villain" was dissapointing to say the least.

Secondly, the variability of power. Scarlet Witch should, according to one of the lines in the movie at least, bend reality as she wishes. But, since that would mean a 5 min movie, she uses this godlike power to throw punches and mini red balls at her enemies. Well, until she needs to silence Black Bolt or turn Dr. Reed into strands. This needs to end at some point, it's getting annoying to be presented some armagheddon level enemy, but having them castrated when the script needs it. And yes, I have the same gripes with Thanos' arc, dude wielded the same power of reality bending and hardly used it. I'm not saying the bad guy should win, but at least let him be overpowered all the way through and find other gimmicks to defeat him/her. Just raise the stakes ffs.

And thirdly, concerning Dr. Reed and Black Bolt. Man, i wanted to see more of Krasinski's Mr. Fantastic and the Inhumans Black Bolt ( Anson Mount ), I freaking lost it seeing Jim having a superhero job, man fits the role. And Anson's Black Bolt is my favorite, even if Inhumans was ...subpar, but he stood out of the crowd for me. I'm glad he has the lead in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, he's a good Pike too.

This is not much of a review though, mostly wanted to vent a bit. While the movie looks and feels high budget and has a great cast, the guys who wrote the script let the entire project down: boring storyline, no sense of direction or danger, just setting up future generations of Marvel heroes.

More focus on good stories and less on CGI squids please.

it's a solid 5/7 for me
8 January 2022
Oh boy, what a nostalgia ride !

I wasn't there when the 1st came out, I was born 3 years later, but these movies were a big part of my childhood too, as for many others. It's true that maybe they wouldn't held too good in today's enviroment, but not everything new holds up either, so...

I missed Ghostbusters, I can say as much, and this movie simply delivered a sense of joy and completion for the originals. Everything was stellar: cast, sets, effects, cinematography, dialogue. Storywise, not that exciting, but I do commend them for not trying to break the mold, like someone tried to a few years back, but in fact kept it and built on it, hit us with nostalgia from left and right and delivered exactly what the fans wanted. At least that's how it felt for me, I was left satisfied and with a smile on my face.

It's a fun and heartfelt movie, no doubt about it. It stays true to its roots and introduces new seedlings that most probably will blossom into new Ghostbusters movies that, with a bit of TLC, will be as iconic for the new generations as the old ones were for us.

And what a beautiful send off at the end...

Now, I think I'm finally ready to watch the 2016 one. I didn't want it to destroy one of my favorite franchises, so I put it off until I thought I was ready and now that I fell complete, Ghostbusters 2016 won't be able to hurt me anymore. I know it's bad, I just want to see for myself exactly how bad.

Hope you guys have fun watching Ghostbusters: Afterlife, at least as much as I did.

2021's Idiocracy
26 December 2021
Well, to be fair, Idiocracy was funnier, but still, it's a nice satire about the state of our world, especially USA's government.

Nice cast, good performances, subpar story told in an extremely close-to-home way. The movie depicts a world in which politics are second to wealth, which leads to an early and dissapointing demise, and to be honest, it's exactly the world we live in right now, no matter what we are let to believe from our leaders. It's a worldwide problem, but it has the biggest effect in countries with actual power to boot and that is a bit scary given the situation presented in the movie. With enough low educated people in power, it may be a reality at some point and I hope I'm dead by then.

It's hard not to go political since the movie takes jabs at it, aswell at social media, the need of fame of some people, the way we focus only on celebrity lives and not our own, how we actively avoid worrying news and we consume events with no real effect on us or the world... The only reason the movie resonates with the public, with me in this case, is because we see the behaviour around us already and it's not hard to imagine the worst case scenario we just viewed.

I don't know, it just let a bitter taste in my mouth. I know not all of us are interested in all the bull the media puts out there, but it's concerning some of us do. I hope this movie doesn't turn into a documentary.

I had no expectations and I was still dissapointed
27 November 2021
Just watched the movie, thought I'll turn by brain off before bed and enjoy some new Venom and Brock material. But damn, I wasn't expecting it to be such a mess.

Again, I had no expectations. The first movie was just ok, not great, but watchable, not one of Marvel's finest, so I knew in my heart the 2nd won't reach that bar. But Let there be Carnage set the bar way lower than it should feel comfortable with.

First off, the story was all over the place and by that I mean they made no effort to give us something exciting. Basic plot, extremely poor pacing, lackluster climax. They even introduced characters ( one in particular ) JUST SO THEY COULD SET UP ANOTHER ONE. I'm not even kidding, apart from a flimsy excuse for a love interest, it's only achievement was to set up another character for Venom 3. And to be honest, I rewatched the scene and I can't seem to grasp how this future character gets powers. I know who it's supposed to be, but he seems to get powers by magic, honestly. And let's not even get into how Carnage comes into existence, that's somehow even worse. Simply bad writting.

Second, the CGI. Not sure what happened, but it's worse than the 1st movie. It's so overused that it just takes you out of the story completely and it sure doesn't help when it's used to give the antagonist unexplained powers in the climax.

3rd, the casting. I'm sorry to say, but Harelson wasn't a good choice, I felt nothing from him, lifeless interpretation. Don't get me wrong, I like him as an actor, but he gave 0% for this role. And no, it's not just because he got 10 mins of screentime, the direction he took or was told to was boring at best. The other characters we already know from the 1st movie and they're more or less the same, so nothing to say about that, same people, same performance, average.

I don't want to spoil the movie, that's why I refrained from making this a spoiler filled review, but I doubt anyone would care after they actually see it because there's not much to spoil, nothing interesting or exciting, nothing special or out of the ordinary, nothing stellar to talk about. It's a B movie at most. The only interesting thing is the end scene that hints at a much better movie we'll get in the near future.

In conclusion, do not expect anything from Venom: Let there be Carnage. Watch it, eat some popcorn, enjoy the end credit scene, forget about the movie by morning.

Cowboy Bebop (2021)
8/10
more like 7, but 1 point for effort
19 November 2021
I'm not a crazy fanboy of Cowboy Bebop, never got the fuss about it. It was a nice anime and I rewatched it recently, but I've watched better shows than it.

So, from someone who thinks the anime was ok, not the untouchable masterpiece diehards think it is, all I can say is the live adaptation was decent. It screws up from time to time with some important details, they modified the stories when they didn't need to, they left out characters probably for their introduction in a second season...

BUT. It's still a nice homage to the original and if you pay close attention you'll get some nice scene recreations, like the shadows when Spike fights Pierrot. Small details here and there which take you back and give you an idea of how much love they put into the live adaptation.

They recreated the world as close as possible to the anime and I for one am satisfied with it. CGI wise, I've seen some cave trolls complaining, but I doubt they themselves could draw a simple straight line, it's by no means bad, especially for a tv series. The acting was ok, characters on point for the most part, dialogue ....well, not much better than the anime ( again, I've watched it and the lines in the anime are not so earth shatteringly amazing either ). I think that, since they can create their own stories from this point onwards, a second season will give them the chance to bring us closer to the characters, give them a broader background and improve the connection between them.

It's not a step-by-step recreation of the original and I see how that might anger some people, I for one expected a continuation to be honest, but it's seriously not as bad as the crazy people make it out to be. If you never seen the anime, it's also a good standalone sci-fi show, so if you like that genre, you should watch it.

But would I watch a second season ? Yep, since I always wanted more Cowboy Bebop, so this should satisfy that. Does it deserve a second season ? Yep, since I feel that they showed love to the original material and think they would do a good job moving forward.

In conclusion, it's a good show. Watch it.

Birds of Prey (2020)
7/10
Entertaining, but not a cinema movie
22 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Well, just watched this, at home, in silence, with nothing better to do. Thought " meh, how bad could it actually be" since I've seen good reviews for Alien: Covenant and we all should know what piece of turd that movie is.

And I must say, it ain't that bad. I'm not a die hard fan of the comics, I've seen animated movies displaying Quinn, but Robbie fits. What is all this hate for ? She makes the character alive and human, not just some overly crazy woman with Stockholm syndrome. Her interpretation feels right on the money for me and no amount of crappy reviews can take that away from her.

The plot.... At heart, it is exactly as the title says, the emancipation of Harley and it's focused on that. The subplot is easy to follow, not all over the place as some people state: dead dude carved the codes for his fortune on some diamond, alive dude needs money = alive dude needs diamond. Also, alive dude hates Quinn for her prior to the break-up. what's all over the place about this ?

Birds of Prey... yeah, that was the dissapointing part of the movie, but it wasn't really an origin story now, was it ? They could've cut that part out of the movie, gave Quinn some extra plot armor and it would've been the same story. So, I do agree with the people complaining about that, but again, not even close to their level.

And not being a cinema movie ? I for one don't enjoy time skips and narration when I watch something at the cinema, just takes you out of it. It's supposed to be personal, at least in my head. It worked for Deadpool I guess, but that's a whole different level of 4th wall breaking.

At any rate, I get that comic book fans have a problem with this movie, but most of us average joes appreciated the effort. I do hope that the fans get a better Birds of Prey movie, I'm curious what the original format is.

Locke & Key (2020–2022)

Nice premise
9 February 2020
But dumb a** family.

The choices and actions made by the main characters are borderline stupid, the script for some reason gave them less braincells than a discarded tissue.

While I get the need for something to push the narrative, why can't this be achieved in a smart and intricate way, instead of Alien: Covenant levels of decision making ? Gone are the days when screenwriters were able to craft challenging pieces of cinema, now we're left resorting to comedic and infuriating actions made by 3 year olds.

Ugh... The show is nice, the cast is decent, cinematography is on point, but man, I just wish some of the characters had been brighter. At some points I just want to yell at the screen out of frustration, because some things that are happening are just ...easily avoidable. While it's a fantasy show and I get that, it should be smarter for the potential it has.

Rant over.

I wanted to like it, but...
5 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Well, this is gonna be short.

I had no problems with the acting, the papier-mache looking set or the toys they used as a lander and spaceship. It could've gotten away with all of these if they would've concluded the story somehow, but they didn't.

Look, I just finished the movie 5 mins ago. It has a lot of flaws, but it was enjoyable to watch, until it decided it deserves a sequel and cut the ending out, which it does not earn in any conceivable way.

For a low budget movie, it's ok, but it does not deserve 8 stars as some of the reviewers gave it. I'm all for supporting these kind of projects, but I also do believe in being sincere, so I'm sorry, but it's not that great of a film.

I don't know how I missed this gem
19 June 2019
I know the show is old, but I shame myself by not giving it attention earlier. I somehow get the same feeling that I got when Fringe finished: I want more, but I don't want it to spoil with overcomplicated plots and lifeless seasons.

For the 3 seasons this show got, it was seriously well made, with a lot of attention to details. I know the special effects lacked in ...well, everything, but that didn't break the narrative one bit.

Languages and dialects for all the alien races, specific music, well developed characters who blur the lines between good and bad, nice twists here and there, great dialogue, compelling storyline. I was amazed on how much love was put in this particular show.

For everybody saying it's underrated, believe them. It truly is a show that could've gone further with ease, but at the same time, it's good it didn't get to spoil at some point.

Watch it, love it, miss it afterwards.

Holy mother of god !!
8 March 2019
From the start i want to say, I know nothing about the manga its based on. I wanted to see the movie first, just to make sure I wouldn't be dissapointed if it didn't stay true to its source material.

But holy crap ! It doesn't matter ! This is simply spectacular. Apart from a really uninspired moment, and it's only 1, everything else is beautifully made. CGI is gorgeous, nothing comes close at this point in time. Characters, especially Alita, are well interpreted and fun to watch. When the action starts, it carries on until the end and it's seriously engaging. And Alita.... uf. I wish this was a longer movie, it deserved another hour of runtime, just so it would go in depth about her backstory. I want to know more and I want to see it with the same jaw dropping CGI they pulled off in this movie.

Look, I know it's not the most coherent review, but please believe when I say this movie deserves all the praise it gets and more. Go watch it, pay for the ticket and give James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez as much money as possible, I want to see sequels.

Simply well-made, fun and engaging. Go see it.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

From someone who enjoyed old Trek, but actually also went outside
16 February 2019
PLEASE DON'T LISTEN TO THE 1 STAR REVIEWS.

Holy damn, what's with all the 1 stars ? I wonder how many of those are Star Trek purists who base their opinions on something that started like, what, in the 70s ? and can't get over the fact that they based their lives and knowledge around a fantasy story about a crew exploring the universe, something that none of us will ever get to do. So, i get where you're coming from, but what the heck is wrong with you that you dare put this new story down ? You sick people, get the hell out of your basements and smell the roses.

Ok, rant over. if IMDB hasn't already banned me, all you need to know is that you can start watching Star Trek Discovery and I'm sure you'll like it, if you enjoy sci-fi of course.

Characters are likeable and believeable, props are mostly manufactured, so the aliens look more than believeable, the CGI is great and on point, cinematography is crazy good for a TV show, the acting can be improved in some cases, but definetly not an issue...

I don't know, for me it looks like a well put togheter show, something that a true Star Trek fan would make, someone who lives in the present and is able to adapt the universe in such a way that it can captivate new audiences who aren't 50 years old (!). It's a nice facelift for Star Trek, and I for one am always waiting for the new episode to come out.

Live long and prosper.

Can't say I agree with you people
23 December 2018
Ok America, hear this out: the world is way bigger than you think and your modern day problems are children sized.

Yes, this is not a sequel to the original Sabrina series, it's a gory remake with a glimpse of what happens behind the goofy part of magic, which all you snowflakes seem to forget about. Fun times are good times, but behind that s**t happens, and you get to see it. The dark tones and grim reality, although it's toned down a lot, are a much more appropriate way to tackle the day to day life of a witch.

The show is fun and enjoyable to watch !

Characters. The cast is great, but I do agree with some of the reviews calling out the PC part of the show, which is just inserted in for the sake of it, not that it has any kind of connection to the rest of the world they're trying to paint. but, unlike most of you, I don't feel annoyed or angry or whatever the hell you are feeling about it, since I'm not from USA and things like these are of no consequence. Who cares about trans people or female empowerment or sexual orientation ? And I mean that in a good way, because those concepts are just part of life, unlike in the US where they seem to be all you can talk about.

The show is fun and enjoyable to watch !

Continuing the rant about the majority of comments:

I couldn't care less if gays or lesbians are getting it on with eachother, or some guy or girl decides he/she wants a sex change. It's none of my business to have an opinion about it and to enforce it on others. To each their own I say, everybody love everybody, we are facing planetary lack of resources and you're out there bickering about stupid issues.

And women can do almost everything a man can do, as men are able to do most of women can, get over it.

What i really want to see and would push my star rating to 10/10 is Salem doing more badass things like taking out the scarecrow in the maze, that was awesome.

Good premise, could've gone better, but a good grade for the awesome acting.
23 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Look, I'm not a critic nor an expert in cinematography or whatever, so can't say I will do justice to this movie by writting an intricate review with big words and fancy expressions, so I won't.

Instead, I will just say its a must watch, defintely an interesting story complemented by great acting and good pacing. Would've loved if it had a longer runtime, some more insight about the 7 sisters could've gone a long way in nailing the emotional portion of the movie, must still, beggers can't be choosers.

I saw some reviews saying "I didn't expect this", "surprised me"... It's not hard to figure that Monday was the one that gave them up. True, the reason isn't given away until the end, but it was easy to speculate until then: she wanted to be her own self, to not having to share her image and her achievements. The pregnancy was ...at most meh, the movie didn't invest more in announcing that to us, so I didn't care, if she just wanted to be the only one, it would've been enough for a reason for her actions, personal opinion. But still, I don't watch movies for the plot holes, I watch it for the world invisioned and characters.

And those parts were great. Cremating kids ? Damn ! It was one thing to try to make a coat out of 101 dalmatians, which in itself is bad enough, but keeping the Earth's population in check by burning them ? If we can neuter and spade dogs and cats, why not go for that with humans also ? Or, I don't know, an infertility drug in the water ? So many more "humane" ways that would've made the bad guy still bad.

i don't know, the movie just made me want more and I like that, I wish I could've seen the girls growing up, developing their own personalities, learning how to fool the world into believing they're one and the same...

In Thor's words: *slams DVD* ANOTHER !

Look, I know you hated the movie, but...
9 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I suffer from the manflu at the moment and that may have impared my senses a bit, but I gotta say, although there are many ( many ) plotholes, I did enjoy it a bit. I mean, you guys found faults about the gravity not working corectly ...the space station is rotating, just saying, some scenes can be easily explained. If something was amiss, it would be the Thing-like arm, which I honestly think it was just put there for comedic purposes, that wierd wall action and when Mundy was trying to do his thing and out of nowhere, magnetism struck. I get what the Cloverfield paradox means, but those things felt way out of place.

And yeah, there's no sound in space. Dramatic effect much ? Although it would've been way better without the sound ( damn that awesome scene from The Last Jedi... ).

The other stuff is passable for me, just because the cast did a good job, it kinda made up for some misshaps.. Loved the fact that it wasn't starring Jeniffer Lawrence, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tony Stark ( i know his real name, but he IS Tony Stark ), etc., overused actors. I like them a lot, but let's give others a chance, eh ?

Look, if you really don't have a life, I mean even worse than me, you would probably dislike this movie, but at least give it a try. If nothing else, it's in another league compared to that crash site named Alien: Covenant. God damn it, I still want my money back !

Life (I) (2017)
5/10
Cliché story, expendable movie
11 June 2017
It's a flick you would watch one night before bed to get yourself tired and ready.

Visuals were good in most part, acting ...didn't blow me away, but not as bad as a movie I'll later mention. Oh hell, I'll mention it now: Alien: Covenant.

"Life" was a regular sci-fi horror/thriller in space of which you couldn't expect too much, but in my case it was a masterpiece compared to Covenant, which had a name like Ridley Scott behind it and took place in a well-known and beloved universe. Yeah, "Life" is a rip- off of a few movies, but meh, this is basically what you get nowadays with most releases because, let's face it, everything has been done before and it's hard to come up with new and original stuff.

Won't spoil the movie though, go watch it. Rent a DVD or something, you may see it and forget about it in a month or so, but at least it won't be a sour memory like Alien: Covenant was.

Again, I can't stress it enough: this was a better movie than Alien: Covenant...

Prometheus is a cinematic marvel compared to this
18 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Now, I'm not much of a critic, never done this before, so this should give you an idea of how much I hate the fact that I wasted my money on this movie. (And I apologize for any misspelling going on, my English is a bit rusty )

No plot, no suspense, no character development, stupid ending. SPOILERS STARTING ....NOW! The first hour of the movie consists of nothing but cool space shots. The ship gets hit by a solar flare while recharging and one of the solar sails needs repairs. Plus some other secondary stuff around the ship, all this happening so we can meet the cast and ...get to know them I guess ? They all could've been red shirts for all I care, since I can honestly say I do not remember any of their names and sure as hell won't research them now. Oh wait, there is one guy, Tennesse. I remember him because he wears a hat and felt even more out of place than the others.

So, the crew wakes up because of those malfunctions and, instead of getting back into hyper-sleep and continue their original trip, they decide to check out a planet near them which was emitting a signal. OK, guess that's smart, since the planet was exhibiting the right conditions for colonization. But, BUT ! once they get there, the idiots step out of the ship without even a simple mask over their goddamn faces ! I mean, teen horror movie much ?? You descend unto an alien planet and you just scream " YOLO!" ? At least in Prometheus they had the decency to use suits ! And yeah, the air might've been breathable, but s**t ! Viruses, unknown pathogens, alien stuff ! Why not wear a freaking mask until you've determined it's safe ? GOD F*****G DAMMIT !

1 idiot gets infected near their landing ship, another a bit further away with the expedition team. 1st idiot gets back to the landing craft where some girl locks him up in the med bay with the biologist or whatever the woman with him was and then radios for help. The expedition team then gently walks back, although the woman was scared s**t-less on the radio..

At this point I lost it.. What came next was equally mind numbing and idiotic as the first part and I'm pretty sure I'm reaching my 1000 word mark soon, so just wait for the DVD to come out and rent it. Or better yet, wait for the TV release, you won't be missing anything important, please trust me.

If you want to go to the cinema anyway, just go watch Guardians Vol. 2 again, it's money better spent, do not pay them to make another Alien prequel. For the love of God, please ! I do like Fassbender, but he needs to choose better movies fast.
